Ice and Snow In China

Presents China's stories under a blanket of ice and snow through five episodes. The first episode, "Inheritance," narrates the historical continuation of ice and snow culture, from the heritage of Beijing's oldest ice skate shop to the winter fishing at Chagan Lake in Jilin, and the ancient skiing techniques in Altay, Xinjiang. The second episode, "Guardianship," focuses on biodiversity conservation, documenting stories of guardians ranging from Snake Island in Liaoning to the exploration of snow leopards on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The third episode, "Passion," showcases people's enthusiasm and challenges for ice and snow, including the Everest cleaning expedition, snowscape photography of the Great Wall, the Harbin Ice Sculpture Competition, and the construction of the Harbin Ice and Snow World. The fourth episode, "Preparation," tells tales of individuals striving for ice and snow sports, encompassing the challenges of ice rink engineers, the dreams of an elderly ice hockey team, and a sanitation worker's snowmobile rally team. The final episode, "Land," depicts the lives of people in the temperate cold zone of northern China, featuring a fire lookout in the Greater Khingan Mountains and a water-saving irrigation project at the edge of the Tamin Chagan Desert, highlighting the close bond between people and the icy land.
