1948年，东北，国民党残部边撤离边计划炸毁鞍钢厂区。危机时刻，“战斗英雄”赵铁池带领共产党部队直冲腹地，殊死搏斗，摧毁了敌人的阴谋。赵铁池化身“钢铁战士”与工程师孙雪飞、老工人孟泰、总经理程时勋一同投身复工复产。然而 ，高炉已成铁坨，厂区如同废墟，专家一致看衰，特务暗中观察，前线战况吃紧，时间日益迫近……第一炉铁水似乎成了一个不可能完成的任务……

In 1948, Northeast China. As retreating Kuomintang forces planned to demolish the Anshan Steel Plant, "Combat Hero" Zhao Tiechi led Communist troops in a daring assault to thwart the enemy's scheme. Transforming into a "man of steel," Zhao joined engineer Sun Xuefei, veteran worker Meng Tai, and general manager Cheng Shixun in reviving production. Yet, the blast furnace stood cold and lifeless, the plant in ruins. Experts were skeptical, enemy spies lurked in the shadows, the war front demanded urgent supplies, and time was running out... Producing the first molten iron seemed an impossible mission.
