Xianghai Wetland
Jilin Province is located in northeast China. Jilin Xianghai National Nature Reserve (hereinafter referred to as Xianghai Reserve) was incribed onto the "List of the World’s Important Wetlands" and was rated as an "A-level Nature Reserve with International Significance" by World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
There are a large number of birds living here. This film features Red-crowned Cranes, White Storks, Eurasian Spoonbill, and Cormorants, and shall also cover the stories of other animals including the Great Bustards and Sand Foxes.
Two story lines are intertwined along the process -- the seasonal changes of birds and that of the plants -- mating and nesting in spring; incubation and breeding in summer; practice the skills in autumn, and migration in winter. The filming crew tracked and filmed each major event throughout the year.
Xianghai Wetland is located on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway for bird migration, which is the most important one among all the eight flyways in the world. During the spring and autumn migration seasons every year, tens of thousands of waterbirds would gather and stop at Xianghai Wetland to replenish their energy. In summer, a large number of waterbirds would stay at Xianghai Wetland for breeding.
